When everyone is a content creator, how do you create real and lasting connections with an audience? Marketer and self-described minimalist nerd Kasia Manolas approaches content as a way to connect with an audience on a more intimate level than the typical, fleeting moments of social media. In our quick chat (minimalist!) we talk about being real about what you deliver, having an "ideal consumer" as muse, and what does a minimalist nerd read, anyway?
Kasia's #WIPMondays action step:
When users are inundated with content, the onus is on the creator to build better content. Kasia's action step is to outline every piece. Don't put content out until it has good bones.
What we're reading:
Kasia is a self-proclaimed "minimalist nerd," so she's enjoying Soulful Simplicity by Courtney Carver. On the writing side of things, she's reading Perennial Seller by Ryan Holiday. This book focuses on looking past the fleeting moment (think: Instagram post) and building content that has longevity. She's also using the writer's bible: Self-Editing for Fiction Writers by Renni Browne and Dave King. I'm reading The Hive by the talented Melissa Scholes Young. Sisters, secrets, and family drama, set in the Midwest during the recession—I'm thrilled to have an advanced copy of this book!
